Display

!?

Working out how to display the 'conversations'. Here the display, consisting of a PCboard Crusader cross and a 'medal', is on top of old patternmaking paper with all the beautiful folds and creases (adding texture). The label at the bottom adds to the layout and the organised (male?) feeling of the display.

Exhibition preparations

Tests...

Seeing what we have and what it looks like when put out on a table.

Fleur-de-Lis display

On tan page...

Trying to see what a 'female' piece of jewellery looks like on a 'male' piece of paper.

Kiepersol stencils

Stencil...

I need some paper stencils to use when colouring/etching my aluminium. I used a photocopy of one of the leaves and arrived at this beautiful design!

Making frames from Litho plate

Etch...

I'm trying to make the aluminium litho plate more 'interesting'. These are test pieces that have been etched with primer... but it does not look too promising....

I want to make frames for displaying my prints at the NSA exhibition... and beyond

Installation?

Marlene was busy working at the dining room table and produced this interesting 'installation'. She was stringing up her enamelled pendants...

Crusader Medals

Crusader medals done to experiment with the different colours: matt black, shiny black (which looks messy), navy blue (which looks black) and green (which looks interesting - why have I not tried the yellow?)...

Signed and titled on the backs...

Colour Test pieces

Better pic... to show the shiny bits...

Colour Test pieces

Here I am testing the colours I have not printed yet, just to check what they look like. And, of course, I couldn't just test them. I had to find an appropriate image to use, so I then designed this scorpion - which comes from a potter's signature, that stuck in my mind from when I was a student, and the memory of a scorpion in Thomas's bath just recently. Combine all this with my preoccupation with the 'sting/heart' and something is bound to happen (soon).

I quite like the imperfect yellow print. Now just to work out how to do it deliberately.

Cameo on foil

Too sweet?

This is an embossed silver cameo onto a Ferrero Roche sweet wrapper... I got the chocolates for Father's day and really wanted to do something with it. A bit like Tony Starkey's champagne foils that he used...

The tear at the bottom was an accident, which fortunately provided me with a space for the date....

Etched plates and pieces

Test plates from Marlene... I'm looking through her test plates to find one (or two or three) to use for embossing. This one has some beautiful patination that just happened... The off cuts in the background are from her domed, enamelled pendants

Blue D'fly

It does not always work... :-/

A blue foil dragonfly embossing which was too hot... and then I tried it even hotter!.... It was a test piece to discover how the process works... and it caused me to find out what the technical specs are so I could do it properly...
