Stripes and beads

What about combining the stripes, with the beads? Maybe in a print?

HDPE anisoptera

I tried to use the blogger app to track this development. For some unknown reason 'publish failed' so here is an overview

Plastic plectranthus

There must be a way to make something like this with HDPE. ‘Something like this’ refers to the flower of the plectranthus (petiolaris). These are growing in spot on the windowsill, next to the orchids and the Mary.

I’ll have to melt and pinch the stem and separate the body - maybe with inserted paper or foil, like the back of the milk bottle brooches.

Pattern

Reminds me of the kiepersol and the Stellenbosch logo. I feel I can use this for my foil prints

Jane Eyre ... 1st set

This is the first set of prints. The idea is to do a set at a time, so I can date them and put them in a photo album for storage.

I quite like the ordering and organising process... it adds a lot of thought to what one is doing. You need to get ready and prepare... It is a bit like a campaign... Is that maybe how one should approach a woman... as a campaign?

Cross designs

I feel that I need to improve the design of my crusader crosses... so I started doodling and scribbling, using srectangula stones and looking for inter-relationships, which is when some hearts appeared...

Medal - prototype

Metal pieces showing a sort-of-preview.... It looks quite nice like this, but how do I convert it into an artefact that can be exhibited?  Maybe a photo?

Moth

I found this moth sitting just outside the door... The colour isn't true to life but close enough to show how spectacular... I also do think that there isa series of prints lurking in here somewhere...

Crusader Cross

This design development tries to even out the visual weight of the smaller crosses ... I want the cross not to have a top and a bottom as such, so I can use it in more orientations for printing.

I don't think it worked well eventually. It seemed to have a 'spinning' feeling to it... almost like a swastika.

I think I should print it in two sections, the smaller crosses in the background in a different colour.

I think I tend to look for too many 'easy' options, too many good ideas

Scorpion design 2

Improved?... I think there needs to be more space between the legs, so that it could be bent open... and I wonder how many legs it does have?

6 plus 2 pincers...

Scorpion design

A design for an improved scorpion... it more of an instruction... the idea is to use curved brush/pen strokes, saw them out and then bend them open...

Watercolour

Don't forget... to combine watercolours with embossings

Piece?

Scarab necklace...?

Thoughts

To remember for future work... Marlene's brooch, dragonflies, scarabs, gold leaf...

Beautiful plate

So difficult to tamper with... ?! One of the photoetched plates from Marlene, that I want to use for embossing...

Birds

Starting to play... Having the bits and pieces, enables me to start visualising possibilities...

Birds..

Wondering and pondering... Trying to decide how big the birds should be... I often have to make these type of 'small' decisions that I find quite difficult to finalise...

Etched plates and pieces

Test plates from Marlene... I'm looking through her test plates to find one (or two or three) to use for embossing. This one has some beautiful patination that just happened... The off cuts in the background are from her domed, enamelled pendants
