Reminds me of the kiepersol and the Stellenbosch logo. I feel I can use this for my foil prints

Kiepersol
The voluptuous leaves of this cabbage tree growing next to our verandah struck a chord in us and served as reference (or inspiration, as some would have it) for quite a few artworks...
a print...
the texture on a frame...
... enamelled pendants
silver pendants...
and as 'conversations'...

Phenomenal engagements
This image is for the invitation to our exhibition... It shows some of Marlene's enamelled Kiepersol leaves just waiting to be set. On the right is a pendant she made for her Master's.

Kiepersol stencils
Stencil...
I need some paper stencils to use when colouring/etching my aluminium. I used a photocopy of one of the leaves and arrived at this beautiful design!

Kiepersol veins
This is what happens when I emboss 'live' leaves onto litho plate... These are the veins of the Kieprsol leave that printed onto the protective newsprint ..

Kiepersol
I often find happy accidents when I am busy making. Here the medal/shield cutouts, when placed adjacent to each other, produce a negative shape that bears a likeness to the Kiepersol leaves I use as a reference... It set me off on a 'voluptuous' track...

Embossing added
See? ... If you look closely you will notice a Kiepersol embossing on top of the cross.
I felt that the print was a bit bare.... it needed something more... maybe because there is no foil underneath... and I had a kiepersol plate nearby so I embossed...! and it feels a lot better...

Medal mix for thickness
Mix... ? Another test which is based on a previous idea that emerged from 'casting about'. Here the kiepersol is embossed first and then the print is done on top... Unfortunately there was not enough pressure... but the next one will be better.
I am trying to make the prints 'denser'/ 'thicker'

With medal?
I'm looking for a connection between the kiepersol and the medals.
I like the way the little fleur-de-lis (need to find a better name) fits into the leaf... that seems to be the connection. The shapely voluptuous bottom leaf has a sting and a royal (as in princessly - from princely) connotation.... (for me?)
How can one reward someone for being good with (perceived) malice?...

Cameo
Casting about...
I am trying lots of things here, because I'm not sure what to do next. I am combining embossings with prints... a kiepersol embossing (relief) with a fleur-de-lis (intaglio) and a silver cameo on top...
Just doing something to see what comes out... so the next posts should show what stuck... in a good way...

Kiepersol scrap?
Sample for hole... The last piece of the silver strip... I wanted to see how to make the hole and quickly used this 'scrap' to test. It then turns out to be the nicest one
Forged border
Forge a nice border... Sticking with the minimal use of equipment I forged a neat border to finish off the squares after being broken off...
Kiepersol
Hammering pairs ...
Not having a whole workshop and needing to make some jewellery for Artisan's 'Local is Lekker'... I made a 'hammer mold' as opposed to press mold. Sawed a kiepersol shape from steel plate and then hammer the silver into it. The size of the silver is determined by the small roller we have here at sculpture.
To be able to hammer and hold I made the sawcuts so I can break the earrings off afterwards...

Interesting shapes... This whole idea of having shapes and gaps that open and are being filled seems a subtle/major issue for me...

Kiepersol
References ... some leaves that I picked because they looked just right as references... I ended up using the one second from right for an embossing

Kiepersol Leaves
Finding out... Can't quite remember what specifically... These are bi-colour foil embossings using kiepersol cut outs... After I had found out what the technical specs are... What a difference..!
